It is with great joy, sweet nostalgia and impatience that the festival Routes in Marpissa returns and renews its meeting with the public on August 27, 28, 29.

Having the “return” as central idea, we get back to the place and habits that we dearly missed. This August we will walk again in the traditional settlement of Marpissa in Paros, from where we have drawn for years, inspiration, food for thought, creation but also joy.

This year’s program is rich and adapted to the special conditions of the time. The festival’s visitors will be invited to discover “hidden” aspects of the place, taking part in a game for children and adults that will combine physical and digital interaction.

At the same time, thematic routes will be created in the traditional settlement: an exhibition of contemporary art curated by Despina Zefkili and lighting installations in collaboration with the BeforeLight team and the residents of Marpissa. In addition, the program includes animation screenings for afults from the Animasyros International Animation Festival, activities for children with the cooperation of Cinemathesis and Greek National Section of the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) and concerts.

All events will be in line with the government’s instructions regarding the presence and safety of the public, while their online promotion through livestreaming is additionally planned.

Inspired by the village, accompanied by the residents and aiming at action… come and walk with us in Marpissa!

– Stories from the traditional Cycladic residences: an architectural record of the rural narratives of the settlement

Audio tour for all ages, recording the oral history of the rural residences of Marpissa, as collected by the architect and educator Dr Carolina Vasilikou (University of Reading).
The recordings will be available to visitors in digital format via QR code.

The Association “Routes in Marpissa” has taken measures aimed at protecting visitors and participants, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This year’s event incorporates the current sanitary measures set by the Greek Government for the realization of live performances in open spaces.

The use of a mask is mandatory throughout your stay at concerts, screenings, exhibitions and workshops.

Regarding the concerts and the screenings, the entrance is allowed only for seated spectators. In addition, it is recommended to arrive early, 30 minutes before the start of any event, to avoid delays and overcrowding. After the start of the event, entry will not be allowed.

Admission to the concerts is free with a ticket. Each ticket is individual.

Tickets are available electronically via ticketservices.gr from Wednesday, August 25, 2021.

Also, tickets will be available on Wednesday 25, Thursday 26 and Friday 27 August, from 10:30 to 12:30 at the Municipal Community Building of Marpissa.

At the same time, a limited number of seats will be available half an hour before the event in priority order.
