“Routes in Marpissa” Festival

“Korai”

August 28, 29 & 30, 2026

The 16th “Routes in Marpissa” festival, which will take place this year on August 28, 29, and 30, 2026, in the traditional village of Marpissa on the island of Paros, draws inspiration from the Korai of the Cyclades.

Tracing a path of diverse female legacies, the festival explores the web of relationships that unfolds through memory and traditional practices. Through narratives that spark contemporary reflections, the 16th “Routes in Marpissa” festival seeks to foster a vibrant dialogue, shedding light on the concept of continuity and the transformations of women’s presence in the region.

Thematic stations, educational workshops for children in collaboration with the Herakleidon Museum and the Theocharakis Foundation, a drama therapy and visual arts workshop inspired by Clarissa Pinkola Estés’s book Women Who Run with the Wolves, a contemporary art exhibition curated by Despina Zefkili, a screening of the documentary “Representations,” visits to museums and traditional village houses, digital tours and a series of experiential activities will help us sketch portraits of women from the Cyclades and hear their stories—even those that have never been told—while a musical tribute to Manos Hadjidakis by the Cyclades Orchestra, a concert with Maria Papageorgiou, and a Traditional Island feast with Nikos Economides and Kyriaki Spanou will bring the festival’s three-day programme to a musical close.
