Archetypal structures and the art of dry stone structures in the Aegean region

On the occasion of the nomination for the inscription on the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of the international file “The Art of Dry Stone: Knowledge and Techniques”, we will get acquainted with the characteristic features of the primitive social organisation and management of space. The way in which the Aegean region is organised, the internal routes, the natural elements (trees, water, land etc) and the anthropogenic -almost dry- elements (mills, threshing floors, water tanks, walls etc) form the surroundings that actually constitute the archetypal structures and the depiction of the physical order of space, as it survived over the years in the Aegean area from the prehistoric period until the middle of the 20th century.
